Years 4,5 and 6
Top Juniors still need help with their homework sometimes!
Even though much of the work that is given to your child is to be completed independently, we still need you to show an interest in your child's homework.
Ask them questions about what they have done, ask them to explain their methods or reasons to you or comment on ways they could improve the presentation of their work.

LISTEN TO YOUR CHILD READ REGULARLY!
Although most older children are able to read independently, they still need your support. Encourage them to read every day and write positive comments in their reading record, commenting on their independent reading habits.
Remember, we still require that you listen to your child read aloud at least once a week.

Top Juniors should know their multiplication tables and mental arithmetic number facts, but these need to be used constantly to keep them fresh. Invent games and activities to consolidate these with your child. Car journeys are a good time for this sort of homework.
If you need more specific advice about homework, please make an appointment to see Mrs Masters.
