SEND MY FRIEND TO SCHOOL

We had a special assembly based on the 'Send my friend to school' campaign. Mrs Masters had the lifesize outline of a child drawn on paper and she told us that the child was called 'Buddy'.
We had to think about our lives and the things we enjoy doing. We made lots of suggestions and we decorated Buddy with drawings of those things.
Then Mrs Masters talked to us about the 100,000,000 children in the world who cannot attend school. We talked about poverty and how education is the only route out of poverty.
Mrs Masters told us about some children in Uganda and Ghana, who had to work instead of going to school. Their families were so poor that one boy did not even have a toothbrush. there was a picture of him using a stick to clean his teeth.
Mrs Masters explained how we could help the 100,000,000 children in need of an education by completing our own buddy and writing a message of suuport on the back of it. We were very keen to help these children and we all made buddies as part of our Red Nose day 2005 activities. We were all really excited to think that world leaders would be listening to us.
