Friday March 11th 2005 dawned grey, blustery and threatening rain. Just the sort of day to stay in bed!!!! Until everyone remembered just what day it was - a day to help others and all by being silly!

The children were greeted on the playground by a motley crew dressed in various shades of red, sporting bright red hair and beetroot faces. This bizarre bunch rattled tins and buckets and persuaded parents to enter the Comic Relief Sweepstake. Luckily, photographic evidence of the school staff looking like this does not exist!!!

The children arrived and it was immediately obvious that they had made a fantastic effort to meet our challenge of dressing entirely in red. Once inside, with the children seated on the floor, the hall was a sea of red. Congratulations to everyone for making such an fantastic effort with your clothes and for paying £2 to Comic Relief.

The school then continued with their campaign to 'Send my friend to school'. The big 'Buddy' was completed and each child made their own buddy, by recording things they enjoy doing at school. The children were excited by the idea that they could write messages to Mr Blair and you can see examples of their work by following the 'Send my friend to school' link in the 'Caring for others' menu.
With the serious stuff out of the way, we were free to concentrate on the comic aspects of Comic Relief! At lunchtime, there was a bewildering array of red food on the tables and some fantastic lunchboxes. A winner was picked from each year group, but we were so impressed by the ingenuity shown, that every child won a prize. The staff couldn't help laughing though; at hearing so many children complaining that they didn't actually like the food in their lunchboxes, they had brought it because it was red!!!!!
