Poets in School September 2002
Very early on in the school year, we were lucky enough to have James Armstrong and Geraldine Aldridge visit us in school.
Geraldine and James are professional poets, who write and perform their own work, aided by a multitude of props!
The morning saw poetry performances to each Key Stage and in the afternoon, the children attended poetry workshops.
In these workshops, the children worked in groups to produce poems, based on models they had already seen.
James talked the children through the poetry writing process and then both poets helped the children turn their ideas into poetry.
To complete the workshops, each group performed their poem, being allowed to use their favourite props of course!
