Welcome to the AWARD WINNING website of Brington Primary School, Northamptonshire

Class One's visit to the Fire Station 2007

Class One went on a visit to the Mounts Fire Station for the morning.
They showed us how they slide down the pole. Apparently it is the tallest fireman's pole in Europe!
They sent through a special text message for us that said 'Welcome to Brington Primary School'.
Next they showed us their protective gear and safety equipment. They demonstrated how they use the oxygen and what happens when it runs out!
We all had a go at sitting in the back of the fire engine. There were lots of things to look at and ask questions about.
Then they brought the fire engine around the back with its sirens on and the lights flashing. Lots of us put our hands over our ears.
We all had a chance to squirt the hose. As you can see it was great fun!
After that they showed us all of the special equipment that is kept in the fire engine. We particularly enjoyed seeing the termal imaging camera and the 'jaws of life'.
Before we went home we saw an old fire engine and got to ask more questions!
Class One would like to say a massive THANK YOU to all of the guys who showed us round. They were very helpful and kind, and good at answering questions. The children were very pleased with their gifts and the Year One children wrote some fantastic recounts of their visit.
