The National School, Little Brington was first opened in 1851. About a hundred boys and girls from Althorp, Nobottle and Little and Great Brington attended it. Now the villages do not generate anywhere near that number so our pupils are travelling from Whilton, Whilton Locks, St. James, Duston, Weedon, Flore, Long Buckby, Norton and Daventry.
Parents are making a choice to send their children to a village school, which tries to maintain a friendly, family atmosphere, where children's education is nurtured and developed.
With its purpose-built infant area, vibrant modern decoration and equipment that Victorian children would not even have dreamed of, the school has definitely arrived in the 21st Century. The age of technology is evident with six computers in each classroom, as well as an interactive whiteboard and digital camera for each class; but still the basics of Literacy and Numeracy are given a high priority.
The children describe it as a "cool school", and the staff as "a great place to work".
